About

HERE IT IS. My chance to be completely narcissistic and self-centered! I can now do the interview I've always dreamed of doing...albeit with myself as the interviewer. To be fair, I'll only post questions that people HAVE asked me before so I don't digress and stray off into a long spiel about how I hate vegetables. Or something.

Anyway, true to my tradition of long-windedness, here's another long-ass post that you don't have to read, but will anyway. (I know, cause you wouldn't be here otherwise. O:)

Who are you?

My name is Stephanie. (D'oh.) If you don't know me, be quiet and continue to be a lurker or ask me a question in the chatbox over there --->

Or just read on. -_-

Why do you blog?

I blog to rant. Here, I say things that I can't and won't normally say in real life. Why? Because I wouldn't listen to me rant like this IRL if I were you. So I just spew out all the nonsense I need to get off my chest here, and those who DO wanna find out about what's going on in this mercurial brain of mine can just read it at their own leisure.

When did you start blogging?

When I was 14. I was on Friendster blogs for a long time before shifting to my second blog on Blogger. The first shift was because of Friendster's lack of facilities, the second was for no particular reason. I guess I got tired of the old layout and angst but didn't want to delete or alter the overall mood and appearance of the blog.

When I first started on Friendster blogs, I had a moderate amount of followers, thanks to Friendster's annoying system of mass emailing everyone on your contact list every single time you posted something new or even EDITED an old post. I had a number of strangers who followed me and I enjoyed and missed interacting with them.

My second blog was considerably more low-key. I had a url from the old blog and one on my msn pm and that was about it. I didn't really advertise or try to gain new readers. Even so, the relatively private space I enjoyed for a while blew up in my face after a school scandal. *rubs hands together in glee*

I enjoyed a huge spike in readership - up to 200+ hits in a day, which was HUGE for a private blog like mine. After many nasty phone calls from my school and empty threats to sue, I was forced to take down the relevant posts and readership grew quiet again after a while. (Sue for defamation and slander, HONESTLY. It's only called that if it were false statements. :S But that's Malaysia for you.)

Anyway, I took a hiatus from blogging for a while last year when life got in the way. But now I'm back with this new blog. With only a persistent link on facebook and an occasional one on msn, I managed to keep it pretty quiet without being absolutely dead. (That's very depressing, if you must know.)

Anyway, I heard you play games...

Yes. I mainly play DotA and CS 1.6. However, my repertoire (cheh wah, so serious!) also includes the Left4Dead franchise (they only have 2 games,) Team Fortress 2 and Borderlands. I play on both Garena and Steam, so look me up on the 'Find me' tab if you wanna have a game with me. :D

Oh, and I currently play Pokemon on my DSL too. And a whole bunch of single player games that isn't really relevant so I won't list them down here.

Why and how did you start gaming?

DotA was my first multiplayer game. Before that I had only played Pokemon and the Sims before. It all started when I was 15 and my older sister was dating a guy from college. We used to go hang out at his place. He and his brothers were playing this fascinating-looking game and they sat down and taught me how to use my first heroes. They were Akasha and Crystal Maiden. From that day on, I was transfixed by the gameplay. I copied WC3 to my pc and played AI. For one whole year.

WHAT?!

Yea, I was THAT enamoured by the game. -___- I can't believe I managed to entertain myself with lame-ass AI for a whole year before moving on to playing with REAL people. Also, AI at that time was pretty retarded, and for one fleeting moment, I actually believed I could hold my own in the savage DotA community. Not a chance. I was flamed, bullied, humiliated for almost the whole of the first year playing in Zion MIRC. Oh well. I'm on Garena now and MUCH better, but still pretty noob.

Why Chocolate_XD? Why snowbunnie?

I love chocolate, so I tried registering my username as Chocolate in Garena. It was taken, so I came up with the lamest permutation of the name - slap on an underscore and my favourite emoticon of the moment. Chocolate_XD was born.

As for snowbunnie...I came up with that on a whim when I played CS 1.6 for the first time in FTZ. It's named after that Garena clan guest icon. I was with 2 other close girl friends of mine and they were bunnies too - pinkbunnie and IAmWhoIAmBunnie if I remember correctly. However, I was the only one who got so addicted to the game that I sometimes skipped classes in college to play alone at the cyber cafe.

Before long, I was known for being the most epic feeder FTZ had ever seen. With scores of 0-30, people used to catch sight of me in game and throw their guns down on the ground and come charging at me with the knife. How did I respond? By flailing wildly and peppering the air and ground with bullets. And dying. ANYWAY, I grew attached to that name and here I am.

Did you really meet your boyfriend online?

Yes, while gaming. To be precise, while I was playing on a zombie mod for CS 1.6 in Garena. His name was queenofpain (my first dota hero!) and I thought he was a girl. Naturally, I tried to get close to 'her' because female gamers just like bond like that. (Either that, or they become insanely jealous and try to put each other down and claim dominance. I have never lost. MUHAHA.) Conversely, he thought I was a guy so it was pretty fair, to be honest. A few months of talking and calling and going out a few times...and I asked HIM out, mind you...ta-da! My first boyfriend. As my friend likes to say: "It's truly a 21st century love story." -___-

What are you doing now?

I'm a student at RMIT in Melbourne. I'm currently doing a games course, majoring in Digital Art. Basically, what I do is learn how to paint and model characters and environments as well as design and execute games. Yes, it is a dream course for someone like me who loves both art and games equally. However, I'm not actually proficient at drawing because regrettably, games have eaten up too big a part of my life. This year, I resolved to quit slacking and balance my game and art life. That means I'm finally learning how to draw as well as use a tablet :)

Are you Chinese?

As far as I know, yes. See? I cut chinadoll bangs! Super chinese :D

Are you really a girl??!

Yeap. I get asked this all the time during gaming. Yes, girls play games. Yes, girls swear sometimes (some all the time) and yes, sometimes girls DO announce when they want to go and pee before a game starts. And also, yes, girls burp, fart and pick their noses.

Any last words?

Nope.
